REI Venus Backpack Review:
- I was on a tight budget at the time, so $200 was a nice price tag to flip over for a backpack.
- I’m tall, but I wanted a women’s backpack (men’s packs just don’t conform to my body comfortably). The REI Venus was a great backpack in my price & capacity range that would fit my 19 inch torso.
- When buying a backpack for an around-the-world trip, versatility is super important. This pack does really well with medium loads. I tried carrying about 70 lbs of wine and other goodies home from Europe. It was a nightmare for my knees, but my shoulders still felt alright. It also cinched down really well when my load was light on day trips.
- The shoulder straps and hip belt are well padded for hours of trekking through the Himalayan wilderness, and the urban jungle of scorching hot Bangkok.
- The zippers held up with out a single problem the whole time.
- I wished that the top would come off to be a small daypack.
- The REI Venus over fits really close to my body and is wonderfully comfortable. I would recommend it to those on a budget who want a larger, versatile pack that can make it through a lot of abuse.
